Description

The aim of this collection was to deconstruct garments and reconstruct these into a new garment. To begin this I started pinning my old clothes to the manakin in unusual ways to create new shapes and to inspire my designs. I took this further by deconstructing my old clothes and furnishing such as old curtains or pillowcases with an unpicker and began to pin different pieces on the manakin. Before I began designing, I researched different designers who had used similar concepts such as upcycling.

Design Process (or something)

I used my primary research especially the shapes that I had created on the manakin as my main inspiration for my design development. I incorperated some of the pieces I had earlier cut up as part of my design development by drawing these on the body and using my imagination to create the garment. Once I was happy that I had developed my designs enough, I selected my final designs. My favourite design is Design 1, where the top was inspired by a dress and trouser that I owned, by creating strips and sewing them together.
