Draped Designs
This project’s aim was to design clothes through creative cut. To achieve this I had to drape fabric on the manakin and pin this to be my basic pattern pieces. I used these pieces to create a basic fitting bodice. I began to draw lines across the whole bodice, ensuring to include notches. I cut each drawn line to create new pattern pieces, these lines will now become seams and the original seams would no longer be there. To gather inspiration for this collection I started to drape large pieces of fabric against the manakin to get new shapes for my design development
Tailored Innovation
I used all my primary research as well as the manipulation on the manakin to inspire my design development. I focused on the unique shapes I had previously created as well as adding in creative seams across the garments. I had continuously developed my designs by changing small features, such as the collar or cuffs to ensure I had thought out every possibility. I then selected my final designs and began to manufacture a menswear jacket.
