Sustainable Designs
For this project, I wanted to attempt to follow the 3 R’s which are recycle, reduce and reuse. I practised this with all of my samples, for the majority I would use my old clothes/ fabrics to ensure I was not buying more fabric and this allowed me to recycle old items of clothing as well as repurpose them. To reduce waste, I would measure thread and ensure I was cutting fabric in the most space efficient way to ensure the majority of the fabric was used.
Nature's Influence
I started gathering my primary research by going on nature walks and taking pictures of anything that had drawn my attention. To develop these images, I sketched, painted and photoshopped these until I was happy with the results. I used these developed images to inspire my different sampling techniques such as my hand-embroidery and beading.
